FIXED PROTHESIS: Crowns 

A single dental crown is a permanent fixed dental prothesis, for a single fractured tooth, decayed tooth or weakened tooth. The tooth is firts prepared by the dentist, this is to make possible that the same tooth can support it owns new crown, that would make it look as good as it originally was. 
 
Crowns are made up of porcelain, that will look with the same colours as your natural teeth, the inside of the crown is made up of precious metals. 
 
Sometimes if the tooth is too weakened, before the dentist installs the final crown, he has to make an endodontic treatment called root canal. This happens if the tooth is too weakened or the pulp of the tooth has been affected by a previous infections such as decays. After the root canal is done the crown should be installed.
